If you missed the two-hour premiere pilot for the show, it will be aired again on Friday. I love the characters on the show so far.

I saw it tonight and thought it was entertaining. The implicit "trust the government for it can do no wrong, even when it makes you a slave" semi-theme got on my nerves, but that is a personal matter.

I liked the character interactions best, and the relative limits to technojargon.

I also atched the BSG trailer tonight. It looks extreamly interesting, with starbuck still fat, Adama still sporting a 'stash and Tight looking a lot like a sailor and everyone (Cylons included) being desperate and thus acting out of desperation.

I was impressed, character interaction was wonderful but then look at the cast, some of them have been around forever as guest or supporting roles. I do think they should have kept the 'villian' hidden a bit longer but knowing is not a bad thing.

First, Eureka: I'll admit that I watched it primarily for the "extended look" at S3 of BSG, but I kind of liked what was there. Kind of. The network had, of course, spoiled pretty much the whole first hour with its promos for the show, so any sense of wonder was more or less impossible to attain. The characters are what saved, for me, a pretty clockwork premiere. Not because the characters are terribly original, because they aren't, but because the actors seemed to bring some wit and panache to them. I pretty much liked everyone even though I anticipated every turn the story took. I may watch again, but, at this point, I'll be lucky to remember it's on again next week.

BSG: So a roughly one-minute (?) quick-cut tease set to cheesy pop rock qualifies as an "extended look," huh? Still, at this point, I'm happy to see almost anything new BSG related. Wake me up when September ends.

I enjoyed it. There was so much that they could have done wrong I was impressed that it went so well. All the actors seemed good and the plot was 100 times better than the average Sci-Fi channel movies. I went in with low expectations and was greatly surprised. I will be adding it to my normal viewing schedule. (Of course this means it will be canceled in 4-6 episodes)

Eureka was... pleasant. Not outstanding, but the plot kept moving, the actors were pretty good, and the dialogue amusing.

However, from my point of view, the best thing was that they kept the technobabble to a minimum, and handled most of the super-science with a wink at the audience. There's nothing like over-explaining something in (bad) pseudo-scientific terms for killing the magic, and I'm glad they didn't - so far, anyway.

That, and I'm in love with the deputy.

I liked it. What I was most impressed about, and it was just a little thing, was the deputy gets her really big and cool gun and it is still machine gun like and not a laser.
