Ever wonder what it would feel like.....

I'm quite sure that if my hit dice is not a d4 then it's not much more than a d6... so a single Magic Missile may very well kill me, or put me in the edge.

I think it's probably like being stunned by tons and tons of soft pillows.

Check out Curse of the Azure Bonds

Early on in the Forgotten Realms novel 'The Curse of the Azure Bonds', the heroine (Alias, I think) is hit with what sounds like a magic missile, based on the description. If I recall correctly (it has been over 10 years), it was described as a searing, localized pain. Anyone with the book feel like looking it up? I don't own it myself.

...which is pretty weird, come to think of it. I mean, some people can dodge fireball blasts (evasion), but noone, not even the most nimble quickling rogue on the face of the planet, can have a 1-in-a-billion chance of dodging a magic missile. Not even if they mostly stand behind a wall. Strange. The guy who invented MM must have got a Nobel prize for thaumaturgy, or something.

Nope. You forget - hit points don't represent bodily damage. Hit points are an abstract mechanic that includes bodily damage, fatigue, muscle strain, and a certain amount of epic luck, among other things.

A sword blow that does 2 points of damage may not actually connect with the body. It may just cause the character to dodge hard and fast enough to make him more vulnerable to a killing blow later.

Same thing with the Magic Missile. It doesn't necessarily hit you dead center in the cheest each and every time. It merely is guaranteed to get close enough that it causes the target to burn some of his resources. The Fireball has no such guarantee - instead it does a great deal more damage to a much wider spread of targets.

......to get hit with a Magic Missile? Would there be impact? Would it knock you off our feet like a bullet? Is it hot? Cold? Tingly in a bad way?

Old adventurer father speaking to his son:

"Well, son, there's Good Touch, and Bad Touch. You know how your mom hugs me before I go on an adventure? That's an example of a Good Touch. Remember when you've seen your dad hit by a bunch of Magic Missiles? That's a Bad touch."
