Everquest rpg elf question

Voadam

Legend
I've been going through the Everquest RPG PH and there is one female elf who seems to be one of their iconics as she keeps coming up in multiple pictures and is on the cover of the EQ DMG ad in the back. She has normal pale elf skin on her face but the blue black skin of a dark elf on the rest of her body. Is there a story on her? I haven't seen any reason for this odd mix of skin coloring, am I missing a reference that would explain it?

Fironia Vie.

She is a high-elven (Koada'Dal, if I remember right, is the correct name of high elves in EQ) princess or something like that, tends to have a very prominent roll in the "metaplot" of EQ. Among other things, there is a biiiiig (statute of liberty sized) statue of her at the Fironia Vie outpost on Kunark, with her hand held out and a magic flame burning in it.

Thanks Tsyr,

Is there an explanation for her skin?

Actualy, I thought you were talking about the girl on the cover of the PHB... THAT is Fironia Vie... the one in the back kinda looks like her, but... evil... I dunno, I havn't followed the metaplot of EQ in 6 months or so, so I don't know what exactly is going on right now.

I dunno, that's a bad painting, but I believe she is wearing a blue skinsuit of some sort; there are no white faced blue bodied elves on norrath that I've ever heard of (and I've been playing EQ since '99), and Firiona is still the same old Firiona she has always been.

I've never played the computer game, are there skinsuit magic items?

This elf shows up in a number of pictures in the EQRPG PH and looks like she will be on the cover of the EQRPG DMG. Her skin coloring is the same as the other dark elves pictures (all are blue except for the parkinson chapter breaks and cover) except for her face and hair which look like the high elves pictured. She has black leather armor and appears to be a spell caster.

That skin coloration thing is actually a jab at the computer game. For the longest time there was a graphics bug where if you were wearing armor that had X color to it, any exposed skin on the model where that peice of armor covered was also tinted the same color. The exception being the head. Helms of whatever type didn't change the faces skin color. They eventually fixed it when the new character models were released with the Shadows of Luclin expansion, but really after a while you just got used to it.

So yeah. The female high elf in that picture there is wearing some blue-black tinted leathers. She's actually a cleric/mage of some kind ~ her stats appear in the little 'into to the EQRPG' pamphlet that was distributed prior to the book's release date. Can't remember her name, but she isn't Firiona Vie.

Firiona's actually a paladin. Not that you'd know it from the frickin' lack of armor and serviceable weapons she's always depicted with.

*grumbles about stupid cheesecake art*

.

I'm not sure if it was a jab at the old graphics bug, or an artist who was unaware that the tinting was a bug at all. I'm more inclined to believe the latter. I wish the art would change, personally. Overall, the EQ rpg's artwork isn't stellar. Passable, but Scarred Lands gets far better stuff.

The game is great though.
