Everything in 3.5e doesn't suck!!!

Things I like about 3.5e:

1) Weapon Familiarity

2) Tactical instructions in monster stat blocks

3) new haste (hell, maybe I'm the only one out there!)

4) new DR

5) Alleged revisions to harm, the ranger, bard, and monk, and new high-level options for fighters

To be honest, I haven't heard a single thing that I don't like. They might even get me to shell out again for the new core books...

Of course, I'm wary of some of the proposed changes. I'm holding my judgment about the new DR scheme until I see exactly how it works, but by and large, I like just about every change I have seen that is being mentioned for 3.5.

There will be things I don't like in the changes, of course, but I am sure there will be far less things I don't like or are confusing in 3.5 than there were in 3.0.

People will probably flame me for this, but I thought 3.0 made huge strides to improve the game over 2E. 3E is a lot like how I envisioned the game should always work, and I played and loved 2E for years. Wizards has done good work in my opinion, but they are only human and could never have possibly foreseen all of the specific ambiguities and rules arguments that frequent these boards. I thought their work on 3E was admirable. Your opinion may vary.

I just wish I could see what the revised rules are looking like NOW. I am already planning to buy the revised books because I think they will totally rock, even based on what I've heard.

One could argue that Wizards is trying to squeeze out more money of their existing products, but I don't see it that way. Revamping the books in a significant way such as this costs Wizards time and money and they should be allowed to recover some of that cost. If you support what they are doing and want to encourage it, buy the books. If you don't, then don't buy the books and just use the updated SRD if you want the new rules. Either way, your message will be heard.

Convenience always comes with a price. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. Wizards knows these 3.5 changes have to be beefy and live up to the hype or people will get mad and Wizards can ill afford that right now. If all Wizards did for 3.5 was to publish a gigantic downloadable list of errata, people would be demanding to know when new books would be printed. They can't possibly satisfy everyone.

I will gladly pay the money to get a compact, neatly bound core set of rulebooks that tightens up loose ends, clarifies ambiguous and confusing rules, and rebalances some aspects of 3E that many think are broken.

I don't like to drop $120 without any thought, but there is no doubt in my mind that the books will be worth it for me, even though I sunk a lot of money into the originals. I have a lot of faith in Wizards. From what I have seen, they have LISTENED to what people want in terms of revamping the core rules and are trying to give it to us.

I say, let's see what they have to say. Discuss what you like and don't like, since Wizards is apparently listening in some fashion. I say I really like what I hear so far.

One good thing about 3.5... one good thing about 3.5... Give me a minute I'm thinking.

Okay, here goes. New things to discuss and house rule! What? I'm a DM's DM in that I want to have something to talk about.

I mean look, the books aren't even out and already there's a nice, pleasant, non-personal discussion on the books. This is socially minded animals at their best. Discussing, comparing ideas and everything. IMHO this is the best part of the 3.5e release and the books aren't even out yet! :p

Oh yeah, ECL on all the assumed-to-be-playable monsters will be nice. As well Weapon Familiarity, as long as they don't go overboard. (A Dwarven Waraxe, by it's description, is too heavy for one handed use. As such, even dwarves should need a feat to use it. Before I get hit over this, let me point out that both humans and dwarves and elves have the same strength adjustment, so well muscled dwarves should not explain this one being on the WF list.)

My guess is they'll be changing the descpretion as its sort of silly to be a dwarven smith pulling an axe off your anvil and saying, I'm a dwarf and I have forged a Dwarven Waraxe that is to heavy for me and my fellow dwarves to wield without special training!

I think 3.5 is going to totally suck. I hate the new DR and how its not exactly how I would do it and I bet Im not going to like any of the other new changes either. Im going to continue to run my games exactly as I had when it comes out, even if it is free to download the new rules. This is because the new rules will suck, I have seen snippets of them, and I know this to be fact. I would never put my group through the perdition of playing with rules that I think suck.

If anyone wants to speculate about the new rules, I think you are stupid because my analysis of what information we have tells me that they suck.

Wow, Petrosian, you are taking this "thinks you hate all 3.5" thing a bit far, but perhaps I should post that in the haste thread where this all started :)

On another not, harm will be revised, grapples and AoOs will be explained, and layouts fixed. If for no other reason, that is a good step for the game.

I like about 3.5 ed that I have some new books to buy and some core classes variants. Finally, it will allow me to create new houserules.
