Evil in the Desert

Have the higher ranking halflings ride the big fiendish camels, with the rest ride lizards or something like that.

If you thought these quick lizard-riders were bad, wait till you see the head of a big monstrous camel come over the sandy hills.

And make the camels spit acid, since camels like to spit alot. :D

Why Limit Myself?

Of course, why choose between camels, lizards and snakes when I can have them all? Low level guys get lizards (I was looking at shocker lizards, but I think they'd kill thier own riders, haha) medium level guys get Fiendish Advanced Camels, and the real bad guyss get some huge Fiendish Snake/Worm ala Dune. I also really want to do some sandstorm, and these guys will have access to Heat Metal. I'm sure the paladins in the group will never take off their metal armor, so they'll be prime targets for this one. I'm also thinking about converting some of the lower level druid spells like Entangle to work in a desert environment, create some sort of quicksand effect that works pretty much like Entangle would. And I think I'm also putting a dragon somewhere in the desert. Aren't Blues desert creatures? That ought to make them wet themselves.

Here is an idea for the Entangle part(since giant acid spitting camels have been done:p ). Have some vegetation that only appears at night when the temps are more reasonable. They lurk below the sand during the day and it is the lack of the sun that drives them above ground to grow and feed under the moon. Anyhow this vegetation can be brought to the surface by the spell and though it whithers and dies; why that just plays into the evil part of druid who beleive they help shape nature this way.

Cheers!

Even wind power wagons.

Kite powered! I onc had a Kite MAster PrC who used Animated Kites (as Weapons, Sheilds, Surf boards and Familiars) and one of the uses was to pull a wagon the party used.

Halflings on Ostriches. VERY high speed. :D

Halflings on Half-Fiend Giant Scorpions -- THAT has style!

Note that the land near a volcano is VERY fertile. Have an old, nearly extinct volcano somewhere in the desert. The land around the volcano cone is green with vegetation, as there are all manner of hot springs nearby, too. Sulphur permeates the air. The water and vegetation are mildly poisonous, but the Halflings know how to prepare them -- or have developed a resistance to the toxin.

Does a Red Dragon live in the volcano? Are they all worshipers of some demonic Efreeti?

Other hazards:
- Giant Trapdoor Spiders
- Sandghouls (regular ghouls, but they live in the sand and look mummy-like)
- Sand cave full of Dire Bats

Hmmm...I think wind power is out, but maybe for a different idea and place. I think I'm going to go with the afore mentioned combo of lizards, fiendish camels, and either dire snakes or scorpions. Demon possesion is in, and the halflings will be 2nd level barbarian/6+ druids. I've also decided on a Blue Dragon and some sort of Ancient Tomb full of Undead. Thanks for all the ideas, keep em coming and I'll see where else I take it.
