Evil Paladins: How will they be handled?

So paladins of evil deities such as tiamat appear to have been left out. How will they behandled you think? WIll there really be a new class called theBlackguard or something, or are we expected to run evil paladins using the main class and simply reflavoring powers (so radiant becomes necrotic or something)

Anyone have any idea? I personally hope for a blackguard core class soon, but hey thats me.

They're already "handled" in the game rules.

I hope not!

This is what I'd expect.

What's the use of a class that's identical to the paladin? That's not a new class. Maybe a paragon path. Maybe.

Yeah. Just reflavoring. I wouldn't say you'd HAVE to use Necrotic damage, though. Even for most evil dieties, it doesn't make sense. But perhaps instead of dealing Radiant damage with searing light, your character utilizes sickly green flames, strikes of black lightning, or similarly themed visual effects to cause their Radiant (aka divine-inspired) damage.

I see no reason why evil paladins and clerics shouldn't use radiant damage. Just, y'know, don't describe it as shiny happy gold and white light.

Though I really wish there wassome provision for using damage types appropriate to your deity, for all alignments, where appropriate. Like necrotic damage for the Raven Queen, or poison damage for Zehir.

Given WoTC's antipathy towards the endorsement of evil PCs and campaigns (totally understandable from their PR standpoint, may I add), I doubt we'll see a blackguard core class. Just maybe, at some point, we'll see a blackguard-type paragon path, but the ability to have evil paladin's right now makes it kind of redundant.

NPC "clerics" in the Monster Manual (eg Orcus Underpriest, Drow Cleric, etc) all do necrotic damage with their basic attacks.

On that note, if someone played an evil cleric (or the DM used PC rules for an evil cleric), would you expect any difference in Turn Undead?

Creating an evil variant of turn undead that dominated the target or at the very least, kept them in awe and terror (and basically kept the same push effect minus the damage) would be very cool.
