Example Star System (PEACH)

The AU in the 'real world' is a rubbish unit anyway as it so small in comparison to 'real' space.

If we kept LY and made a new AU to be say a 1/1000th of an AU rather than ~ 1/62000th it wld make the maths better

hmm, may adopt this for BlackNova35.

It serves it's purpose of interplanetary distances, doesn't it? We still have Light Years for interstellar distances.

Or, you could just measure interplanetary distances in Light Seconds/Minutes/Hours.

That is a good way to handle it. Earth being about 500 light seconds from the sun works out as a nice number, too.

yeah in our game we use 'speeds' in terms of LYD (light year days, if that makes sense!!)

as interstellar jumps from a ships engines can take u 10,000LY and jumpgates even further, the numbers in terms of AU is enormous.

Like the idea of going down to LYM, and LYS.

still have to use some kind of normal measure for ship to ship combat. I tend to use an arbitray RU (range unit) for distances and assume with average piloting rolls a fast ship will escape a medium fast ship.

we have a lot of space combat so things needs to be fairly simple

wandering way OP/OT
