Excamples of a City for cross-planar travel

Does anyone have any recommendations for a resource a detailed description of a city that serves as a hub for cross-planar travel, the kind of place where mages have set up semi-permanent gates to other planes, and various travelers and traders pass through on their way between worlds? Something on a website would be ideal, but if there's a good one in a module or sourcebook that would work too. Also doesn't really need to be 5th edition, as I'm not going to use it straight.

I'm trying to build an adventure around exploring the ruins of such a city centuries after the travel collapsed, and having a picture of what kinds of buildings and creatures it would have had when it was functional would help. I can obviously come up with basic things like banks and the actual gates, but seeing one fully fleshed out would probably include some neat things I wouldn't think of on my own.

Perhaps a description of a ruined Welthauptstadt Germania. The size, dimension and scale should match the ego of those who would have built a planar city.

Cample: to speak angrily or sharply : SCOLD, WRANGLE

So, and Ex-cample would be one who used to speak angrily or sharply? I am glad you've made peace with planar travel now. No more of those angry rants.

Sigil is the only right answer to this question, unless there is meant to be an implied "other than Sigil" in the question. Sigil is to planar travel cities (and planar metropolises in general) as D&D is to fantasy role-playing games. The original, the best supported, and the best known.
