Excited about Magic of Incarnum?

Can't say as I am all that interested. The excerpts I read seemed rather bland. I'll wait until a few of the EN World reviewers I respect have had a chance to give the whole book the once-over before I make any decisions, but it doesn't look promising to me.

Well, like every other book I haven't bought in quite awhile, I'll spend a little time at B&N reading through it to see if there's anything I can use. If so, I'll head over to the FLGS and pick it up after thinking about it for a few days. If not, I'll let one of my gamers pick it up and let em try to convince me to use something in it. heh.

I'm glad that WotC is exploring new boudries, but this "Incarnum" thing is coming too much out of left field. I wouldn't know what to do with it / how to make it fit in.

I'll pass on Magic of Incarnum.

I gotta say, the chakra thing turned me off to the system too.
It's just seems extremely at odds with D&D generic medieval feel.
Suddenly my paladin's going to be worried about what chakra to apply his
items to? No, I think not.

They could have called it *anything* else. They could have called it
focus-points. Or perhaps ley-loci. But call it chakra, and no money
for you, WotC.

Now that I read this Chakra thing, I understand why in the OTHER "meh" thread someone was making comparison to the second world Warden system.

Which rocks.

The generic medieval DnD feel of things like Ki strike, Eco-conscious shape-shifters, and spiked-chains? There is NO coherancy to DnD cosmology and frankly there is almost nothing medieval in the default DnD world. If they want to chuck something else into the mix, I will worry about cosomology and terminology only as they apply to fitting it into my own campaign. When they come out with a new system my questions are A) Is it mechanially sound, and B) Will it enhance my game? And besides I find it far more annoying to see new terms applied to existing concepts than I do to see a real world term used even if it doesn't come from france or germany.
