cr6 + cr6 = cr8
cr5 + cr3 = cr6

cr8+c6 = cr9
cr9+cr4 = cr9.5

Jus wonder if there is formual to applie to this, that figures the CR better
Just ignore the last part about CR 4: It doesn't change things significantly enough to merit its inclusion. Also, you always round down in D&D anyway. So EL 9 it is.

There is a better formula, but you don't want it. :) It involves logs and other scary math.

CR 6 + CR 6 + CR 5 + CR 3 + CR 4 = EL 9.6

My playing group have just start to use FRCS xp system from few sessions ago. It is working very well for us.

Pros.

_ Mixed level party can become more playable.
_ Level loss from resurrection or energy drain is compensated.
_ Encourages to spend XPs to create magic items. (you can get it back!)

Cons.

_ DM need more complex calculations than usual.

Your 3rd pro is why I don't like the FRCS xp system. I think there are already enogh reasons to make magic items. Effectively lowering the exp cost makes it seem almost too good to me. But then again in the two groups I've played in since 3rd edition came out I'm the only person to have made items yet.

high math is not a problem???

considering

y = 2 to the power of x

where x = (monster cr - party level)/2

y * 300 * party level

the above will give exp award most of the time

if party level <= 3 then its monster cr * 300

for individual crs

if you have 1 to 12 monsters of a given cr this will work
most of the time and be some what acruite.

how ever i haven't looked into a log route into figuring cr's for
mix cr encounters....

whats the formula?
