Interestingly, going back to the Grey Box and other early FR material, the Anauroch gets called out as including a lot of steppeland within it's borders, not just straight desert.

Wonder if the Backgroujd associated with the Anauroch will be a "Steppe Nomad" sort of deal, that can also apply in areas like The Ride near the Moonsea, Calimshan, or Narfell...
From earlier threads the Calimsham background is Genie Touched

Genie-Touched
Ability Scores: Dexterity, Charisma, (???)
Feat: Magic Initiate (Wizard)
Skill Proficiencies: Acrobatics and Perception
Tool Proficiency: Glassblower’s Tools
Equipment: Glassblower’s Tools, Lamp, Oil (3 flasks), Waterskin, Fine Clothes

Right, yes, I am talking about the Anauroch regional Background, which we also know is coming, and how if it is something like "Nomad" (not too many other professions in the Anauroch, even in the nicer steppeland sections) it may also be something where they say "you can use the Nomad Background for characters from the Coram Steppes!"

The magi tech vibes for Calimshan, is an interesting twist, but so is the 4 courts of Genies, including a Djinn flying city, that's new. Human cities still seem to be free, post 5e revolution.

Common magic being super common is not new to Calimshan, all but the poorest in Calinshan had at least one common magic item and Calimshan was a major producer of house hold common magic items.

I wonder if they will still Sharess' Feast Hall of Eternal Delights.

Dalelands us very points of light and Icewind Dale is that but colder with more horror and apparently Goliaths.

Baldur's Gate is still is seedy self.

Moonshaes are an odd mix of Swashbuckling/lovecraftian, Celtic, Arthurian, Norse, and Fey (and just a tiny bit of Greek thanks to fey like Satyrs) influences.

I mean when it comes to it, Calimshan is not the only region with Genies in Faerun, where using Genie Touched. If your Genasi you need no other reason to use it then your a Genasi no matter where your origin is.

I still find it surprising that Genie-Touched got Magic Inniate: Wizard instead of Arcane Empires regions' background. Maybe their background origin feat will be a new one linked to circle magic?

I expect that Old Empires Region will be God Touched or God Blooded or something like that. Either Magic: Inniate Cleric or a new feat allows you to channel divinity or something.

The emphasis on Goliaths in the Icewind Dale was interesting, but otherwise Calimshan and Moonshaes were the most interesting to me.

Did a search Burin Bir, the name of the Djinn cloud city means Wells Two in Arabic.

Except if you look at the map stuff we have from the Grimm's maps product for this, some how Shade's back in Anauroch Desert some how. Perhaps they surviving Shadovar resurrected their city somehow after it dropped on Myth Drannor?
I never noticed that!! I love the Shadovar, so that is good to see!!
