Fabricate spell

I'd let them create mutiple products. I have problems with the idea that somone could turn a bunch of trees into a bridge, made up of many parts but if was creating planks, could only create one ven though there are maybe 100 planks in the bridge. If it makes people feel better make a bunch of masterwork swords, conected by an ornamental chain loosley tied around the hilts, a work of art symbolizing that while the owner is a passive person of restraint, but when the time is necessary they will rise up and draw their blades in the defense of the land.

Multiple Items

I don't think you could create a bridge the way are talking about because that would be multiple materials (nails). I do wonder if you could create multiple items that are liked by a thin solid bar or chain and then break them apart. Just like those old "assembly required" toys.

Personally I'd let it produce multiple objects. A PC creating a box of nails isn't that big of an issue really. Using it for an almost endless supply of masterwork arrows at a cheap cost is not that bad.

I think it if was a single object it would be worded so. They'd have probably put in something like "only one item can be created per casting" or something. They just say that you can make items with a craft check.

The real problem with allowing multiple items from one fabricate is that you can also cast wall of iron at the same level. You can make a lot of equipment this way.

Yes, it will be masterwork. I was making a high-level dwarven smith. She's only 9th level, but with skill focus, int mod, max ranks, mw tools, she has a +24 to smithing. When she uses fabricate she'll have masterwork weapons every time. She's a transmuter too so she can cast it 3 times per day. Unfortunately it looks like you can only craft one per casting. Oh well.

That's some impressive Int. 12 ranks, +3 from house-ruled Skill Focus, and +2 from masterwork tools gives +17, meaning that the smith has an Int of at least 24*.

* Or Int 26+, if the standard Skill Focus is used.

To break it down even further I did the standard NPC of 15, 14, 13, etc so she had 15 int, +1 at 4th and 8th for a 17. Add in the oldest age category for a 20 int, but a 2 str... :) Every day she learns a trio of bulls strengths, and 3 fabriates. If someone steals from her she scrys on the item the next day, then Teleports Nunzio (Ftr4/Rog3), and 4 Dwarven guards (Ftr4) to deal with the thief. An effective deterrent against theives in this small town.

Old style wooden structures could be put together with basically wooden nails. They weren't actually driven into the wood like nails, a drill bascially made the hole and then a wooden spike would be pushed in for a really tight fit. So yes a bridge like this could be made with one material. Sorry flashbacks to my hick upbringing, even though I grew up in SF bay area.

Also I happen to let multiple materials be put together with this spell. I think the wording is fairly imprecise and vague, and I'd rather say sure to this, than having to make decisions left and right on what objects are made of only one material and what objects are made up of multiple materials.
