How do you add the circumflex with a keyboard, anyway? Yeah, I'm dumb.

Presuming you're using the U.S. keyboard layout: hold right Alt key and type 0150 on the numeric keyboard.

That didn't give me a circumflex, that gave me an emdash. Anyway, I had Word open, so I just inserted the û and cut and pasted. It's a bit of a hassle, so I don't bother most of the time.

I think you mean Alt+0251: û

The Alt+0250 just gives you an accented u (ú) not the circumflexed one (û).

Sorry, i meant ALT+150, not ALT+0150. 0251 also does the trick.

In French, where you have the circumflex on many words, it doesn't change the pronunciation. It's just an indication that the original word, of which the current word bearing the circumflex has been derived from, contained an additional consonant (I think it was an 's'). That's why I'd say the circumflex in Faerûn doesn't change anything .
