Familiar - D&D 4e combat tracking program for DMs

I'd love something like this integrated into MapTool (see sig) - if you ever want to give Java a shot and wouldn't mind working with another opensource program, give it a shot =)

And don't apologize for adding another program to the mix, freedom and choices can't do anything but make things better for everyone.

Once the development phase is (mostly) finalized, I really would like to integrate this into a MapTool-like application. The prospect of porting the whole thing to Java seems daunting, but maybe there's another way we can collaborate. We really should form some sort of community developer group and hash something out.

And kudos for making the whole thing open source. Once I get a chance to clean up the code a bit, I plan on making Familiar open source as well.

As another fellow .NET developer and DM, I'm very happy to hear this!

Might I suggest GitHub for open source hosting once you get to that point?

I will definitely consider using GitHub for hosting. Thanks for the tip. I'm hoping to have a mostly-done version of Familiar in the next 3-4 months, so that's around the time I'll figure out my hosting options.

Version 0.5.0.12 available!

The new version of Familiar has arrived! You can download version 0.5.0.12 at Home (Familiar). This revision contains some great new features. You can browse and add monsters from the D&D Compendium directly from within Familiar. Also, you can now copy and paste rich text custom monsters from the Monster Builder directly into the program. Please note that you will need a subscription to D&D Insider to take full advantage of these features.
Please let me know how you like the new features and if you'd like to see anything else added in the next version (due sometime in March). You can reach me at info@familiarrpg.com.
