Familiar HD

Thanks for posting the spell. Personally I think it might be broken but I will leave that up to my DM, If he doesn't think so I will use this myself (I have a Mystic Wanderer so I have divine casting with a familiar).

now on to your question. As the spell states:
If the target creature is your familiar, it gains energy resistance, fast healing, damage reduction, and additional damage for its smite attack as though its Hit Dice were equal to your character level.

So your familiar would have the Celestial Template portions listed as a 14 HD creature.

Its BAB, Saves and Skills would still be generated normally as per the familiar rules so it would be equal to your characters BAB, Saves, and Skills unless its natural ones are better.

One more time I'll post the rule from the SRD (and PH p. 51):

Attacks: Use the master's base attack bonus. Use the familiar's Dexterity or Strength modifier, whichever is greater, to get the familiar's melee attack bonus with unarmed attacks. Damage equals that of a normal creature of that type.

Nothing in either Tome & Blood or the spell linked above changes this rule.

And all that comes with the caveat of "unless the creatures is better"

If BAB and Saves and Skills are based on the animals initial 1/4 to 1/2 or whatever HD the Masters BAB/Saves are generally going to be far superior. If however its based on the creatures current HD, the BAB will be 2/3 and good Fort/Ref + the masters good Wil Save. None of the books clarify this little conundrum.

A familiar does not get real HD advancement only effective HD for determining spell effects, therefore unless something else changes it (such as a polymorph spell) its BAB, Saves, Skills, and Damage will not change from its original pre-familiar state. This will in all likelyhood mean that it will be using the Masters BAB, Saves, and Skills.

The Planar Familiar spell as stated only effects DR, Resistances, Fast Healing and Smite (SR is not listed so not included).
