Familiar - Rocks or not?

RolandOfGilead

First Post
Ok, Here's the lowdown:
I took the improved familiar feat and selected the eyeball beholderkin.
I took Construct Familiar (from dragon mag #280? I think)
and I took Enspell familiar (share spells at up to 1 mile distant)

So my familiar is immune to Necromantic effects (anything that affects objects can still affect it though)
Mind influencing and control
Ability damage
Energy Drain
Subdual damage
Critical Hits
Most Illusions
Morale effects
Sleep
Poison
Paralysis
Stunning
Disease
Death effects
Any effect that requires a fort save.
and it cant die from massive damage.
It has Improved evasion
It's AC is 21 (base, before mage armor or shield)
What do you think?

Have your character fall on his sword and then play this little dude from now on.

But hey, if you figured it out using the rules and it doesn't ruin the game for everyone else (or yourself, for that matter... it can be pretty sad if your familiar is more powerful than you are), I say good job!

Bah!

I take it you guys are being sarcastic.. heh. Cause even with those abilities a familiar is terribly vulnerable to area spells, magic missiles, ranged attacks, etc.
it just narrows down the field a lil bit :)

My character is a tinker, and made a clockwork beholder to act as his familiar. I think its kind of a neat concept, even if you dont. :)

I get the same effect without all the pesky feats...

Toad familiar: "Help, master! That cultist keeps attacking me! I've been level drained!"

Master: "Sucks to be you. What do you want me to do about it? You think the cleric's going to waste a restoration spell on your bumpy butt?"

Toad: "What about my strength drain?"

Master: "Oh, so now instead of carrying a toad everywhere, I have to carry an encumbered toad everywhere. Big deal. Cleric's not going to waste a spell on that either. What else you got?"

Toad: "Now the cultist is casting Slay Living on me! Help!!"

Master: "Better you than me, pal."

On the other hand, a cleric rolls up and casts circle of death...
You:
My familiar got killed AND I took a buttload of damage....
Me:
Err, I took a buttload of damage! (bright side, my familiar is fine!)
lol

I think it's gonna be hard to impress the ladies with a floating eyeball as my wingman that's what I think.

Aw, I was just messin' with ya. Its off-kilter in just the right way to be cool, yet quirky enough to serve as comic relief when desired.

I kinda like it.
