Familiars Like Never Before

Troll Lord

First Post
Some years ago when we were publishing d20 material we released a book called The Book of Familiars. It was originally written for 3.0, but while in editing WoTC announced 3.5. So a delay and a rewrite later and the book was released. It was kind of lost in the game system shuffle, but proved one of our stronger d20 titles.

It has sat on the shelf since the switch to 4e and Castles & Crusades, but that is at last changing. Casey Christofferson, author of the soon to be released Haunted Highlands series, spent several months converting the material to Castles & Crusades. We released it in early January in PDF format (print copy to follow this month, 208 pages, hardback).

What is it?
Familiars for All Classes -- The Book of Familiars offers a groundbreaking look at Castles & Crusades' thirteen core classes. Herein we expand the horizons of familiars and have developed a fully functional, well balanced approach for each character class to gain a familiar or animal companion. These added features do not inhibit the simplicity of the Siege Engine, nor do they add a level of complexity to your game that slows it down. The Book of Familiars adds new dimensions to the game without impeding play.

And these are not the familiars you know. However, the Book of Familiars breaks the fantasy mold. From the barbarian's spirit guides, to a fighter's weapons, the monk summoning ancestral spirits, or a rogue's shadow with a life its own and the paladin fusing his own spiritual power with his arms and armor. These are familiars as you've never seen them.

Complete with over 150 animals and monsters.

Not that that doesn't sound excellent, but wasn't there a Pathfinder version announced at some point?

Alzrius,

Yes. We've several times tried to get a Pathfinder version out. But each time we've hired someone to do the conversion, they bailed on us. Not sure why, but it is the way it goes. But we've recently started working with Brandan Lasalle, converting d20 Gaxmoor to C&C, and I'm mulling over giving the Pathfinder version another go.
