D&D 5E Familiars

My character is a multiclass rogue5wizard1warlock1 for in character reasons. I have the spell find familiar. I'm wondering if i could rob people by have my familiar grab something of theirs and then dismissing it to the pocket dimension so the person would know they were robbed but not neccesarily by me.

The familiar wouldn't necessarily have sleight of hand proficiency to pick pocket anyone. Maybe an imp could do something like that but you would have to be a higher level warlock to get an imp without roleplaying out a deal with a npc imp. And then I don't think familiars from those sort of deals follow the rules of the spell.

I was more thinking it wouldn't be sleight of hand but rather taking it overtly but i see your point. I may consider pact of the chain

Check with your DM. They may or may not rule that the familiar takes the item with them when they are dismissed, or they might rule that the item stays on this plane when the familiar poofs back to where it came from.

Happy Gaming!
