Slayers
Record of Lodoss Wars was the writer's original D&D campaign, and The Slayers first appeared as a series in Dragon Magazine: Japan.

So they both have very strong D&D connections. I like them both, but the big story-line jump between the 4th and 5th VHS tapes [of Lodoss War] kinda threw me for a bit. I like stories to be complete, and the thirty seconds of narration that covered at least a year's worth of the storyline was just... Ecch.
