I liked Sorcery & Steam, Cityworks, and got some use out of Wildscape. The Traps & Treachery books are ok. After that, the quality drops off quickly. Very quickly.

Portals and Planes is one of my favorite campaign references and I've literally been waiting for them to come off the high peg with the PDF prices.

Actually I've also been waiting for it. I already own Wildscapes, Portals & Planes, CityWorks and DungeonCraft, all of them by Mike Mearls and have been using them regularly since I got them.

Sometimes, it's just the point that there are better alternatives around. For example, "Path of Magic" had quite a few decent ideas for bards and political games. However, since "Dynasties & Demagogues", nobody really needs those.

I really dug the bard variants in Path of Magic, the way you get different bard abilities depending on your entertainment form.

And actually, that particular ruleset is not hard to adapt to 3.5. All you need to do is add a level requirement corresponding to the core bard ability, and perhaps link it to a specific performance skill, and you are there.
