I've tried it. After much headache, I finally got it to run for a few minutes, but when it came time to actually play (where you would deploy your units), instead of showing the tactical map in the viewing window it just showed a blank space-nothing.
It doesn't seem to like XP. I have a copy of Windows 98, which as I recall seemed to be ok. Do I need to get another computer and load it with 98 so I can play?
Well, you can try this link to see a discussion of the problem. Unfortunately, the issue seems to be the FG runs in protected mode, which is not supported by DosBox. And it requires VCPI (whatever that is) which is not supported in XP. The consensus is that you'll need an emulator or a Win 98 machine.
That's what I do. I've got a 400mHz box running Win98 and I made a DOS boot disk for it. I use it play dozens of old games that I still have or have picked from The Underdogs site.
