Fantasy World Submission Query

First Post
I know WOTC told us that we would have to wait until the first week of August, but I really really thought that there would be more (i.e. at least some) traffic on the topic.

August is almost here... must wait... must wait... must wait...

They did about a week ago but only briefly. My take is that they're probably so inundated each spare second is really starting to court. Or, they're so burnt out they don't want to even think about it.

I mean how would you like to sit down for hours on end reading page after page of settings just knowing that every single submittee is starving for details.

I'm curious too, but given the nature of this contest so far I wouldn't be surprised if the deadline got extended again.

Think about it. You're one of maybe eight people working on this project and you've got to manage over 10,000 proposals in little more than one month's time-frame. The reaction up until this point, to me seems to be one of "Crap! We bit off much more than we could chew!"

I bet, in retrospect, they wish they had limited submissions to one per submitee.

Regardless, check out this link if you haven't already

i bet they wish they had chucked the idea, or limited the monetary reward significantly

Yeah-

I can just see them now-

"Solicit an open submission from the biggest group of know-it-alls in history?? What were we thinking??"

exactly! and seeing as i do not think they were adequately prepared for the influx, i wonder of they are adequately prepared for the backlash when 10,523 folks get rejected?

5000 of them having been fairly sure they were "the one!"

Now that's something I didn't consider. How about the competition from the 1000 worlds that were probably pretty damned decent and decide to self-publish online? I'm sure they'd take the boon in core rules sales. Or what about the paranoids who think the original setting was stolen from their submission?

Me, I feel sorry for them guys. I'm glad it's not me. I have enough trouble with submissions where I work. But 10532 pissed off gamers (about 30% of whom own katana)- that's not my cup o' tea.

PS That's probably why they've been so nice in all of thier posts. I mean they don't want to piss all us know-it all, megolamaniacs off. Right?
