Far Realms madness

For the weird geometry, maybe you could make it difficult terrain while moving in a continuous line, but changing direction is treated like normal terrain.

Characters would be moving in funky patterns within the aura. Might be fun.

:)

That's actually a very interesting idea.

I like the concept, but what, exactly, constitutes a continuous line in 4e? Zig-zagging is already equivalent to moving in a straight line.

Maybe as a rule:
"In the Aura, any square of movement that does not change the distance to the creature costs 2 squares of movement."
This would basically mean that it's easy to get close or get away from the monster, but trying to move in a non-straight line (for example, shifting into a flanking position) would cost more. But this doesn'T really create zig-zagging effects.

But I fear that alternatives may cause to much backtracking and rethinking, for example:
"All movement that changes the distance to the creature costs two squares of movement. Each square of movement that does not change the distance to the creature reduces the cost of the next movement that changes the distance to the creature by 1."
Meh... Too complicated, isn't it?
