Farscape "A Constellation of Doubt" 2-14-03 [SPOILERS]

John Crichton

First Post
And interesting TV documentary broadcast about the Moya aliens visiting earth. The signal is intercepted by Moya and John watches it for clues as to Aeryn's location...

I have to say that while this ep didn't move the plot forward a ton it raised a ton of great questions about humanity and the like that I adored. We got lots of footage of the aliens interacting with things on Earth and alot of "home video" footage that John's nephew took. I loved the part where he begs D'argo to tongue-zap him. Classic young teenager!

The rest of the crew's interactions on Earth was great as well. The observations of the aliens by the people in the documentary were an interesting mix of psychological, religious, scientific and mundane. Rygel's gluttony, Chiana's eccentric behavior, Noranti's religious views, D'argo's military views, Aeryn in general as the most human looking. All great. I had to overlook the fact that only Aeryn and Sizoku know English and had no idea how anyone on Earth without the translator microbes would be able to understand a word the others were saying. But that is minor.

This episode showed the show's versitility and ability to give a good look at ourselves. That is something that great science fiction does, teaches us something about humanity or simply asks good questions. Next week's looks great as well as we may finally see what Scorpy is REALLY up to.... :D

While on Earth he joined the Republican party.
(Ahem)

Are they ever going to kill him? How did he get out of his own grave, recover from being shot through the chest, get a vessel to get off the planet and find Aeryn?

Personaly, my standard for "Is he dead?" was set when Rygel was wandering around with that one' guys head on a stick.

He's a main character. The main evil dude. The guy you love to hate. He's still got Bracca on his side and he's tough as nails. He's survived more than pulse pistol shots (recall last season he took one from Rygel and survived easily because of his armor). Honestly, he's one of my all-time favorite TV villains. Go Scorpy.

Wife walked in right at the last part of the show and asked me a question, I missed exactly what was said between Crichton and Scorpy. A whole episode building to that one converstion and I missed it.

I think John would be making a HUGE mistake giving Scorpy the key to wormhole technology. The only reason Scorpius has kept John alive thus far is because he knows John has figured out wormholes. Scorpius is looking for an opportunity to exploit it - by hook or by crook.

Think about it: the mere idea that the Peacekeepers have wormhole technology is the only thing keeping the Scarrans from instigating all-out war. Scorpius knows that securing a practical solution to wormhole technology would allow him to regain his prestige and position… But once he has the secrets for himself, Scorpius is far too clever to allow anyone else to have it (forget Scarrans, I’m talking any other Peacekeepers). He will kill John Crichton just to keep the information at a premium.

And if Aeryn was listening in on that conversation, I could picture her pulling her hair out by the roots – telling John to shut the frell up!

I didn’t get the whole Sikozu/Stark flashback-thing. How did John connect Scorpius to what Sikozu/Stark said just before he/she was shot?

Whodat basically said it but in a nutshell, John offered Wormholes to Scorpy in exchange for his help in rescueing Aeryn.

It doesn't connect to Scorpy in any way I know except the following. YMMV:

Scorpy has a weathly of knowledge, both Scarran and Sebacian. John knows Scorpy has another agenda which is why a few eps ago he made the plan with Aeryn to suppress their emotions around him. Scorpy most likely can get John the info he needs to find Aeryn. This means revealing that they are still lovers and that he cares for her more than anything. So John puts all his cards on the table and is now waiting for Scorpy's response.

Katrazi (sp?) and how it ties into things seems to have something to do with one of the unrealized realities that John ran unto somewhere mid-season. He's going to go back to a wormhole to probably investigate one of them so he can get to Aeryn.

I may have just confused myself. Am I making sense? LOL :)

John is gambling, give Scorp what he wants and hopes that he sees just how dangerous it is. I think he (John) feels that Scorp will realize wormhole tech should be kept hidden.

Maybe I’m remembering something wrong, but I thought John said something just before he walked into Scorpy’s cell to the effect of “You bastard. You set me up. Not that it matters.” Then John walks up to Scorpius and spills his guts.

What was that all about? Did John somehow connect Scorpius to the flashback?

Did he mean that by following Scorpius’ suggestion to take the neural clone out of John’s head, it wouldn’t help to explain things further – keeping John in the dark and, thus dependent on the original Scorpius?

Was he not referring to Scorpius at all? Maybe the black-eyed traveler from “Unrealized Realities?”

I don't see why. After all, Peacekeeper society is a liberal wet-dream. All-encompassing power concentrated into the government? Speaks directly to the goose-stepping heart of every socialist in the Democrat party.

You might've missed it, but an ep a couple weeks back had Scorpius meeting up with Braca, again. It became clear that Braca was Scorpius' Man-on-the-Inside. Braca probably didn't shoot Scorpius at all. Just set it up so that it looked like he shot and killed Scorpius. Then when he got a chance, later, he dug him up.

get a vessel to get off the planet and find Aeryn?

That I can't explain. Braca might've helped him get a ship, but I don't see from where. Maybe pass a message along to someone else to go pick up Scorpius from that planet? As for Aeryn, I have no clue how he found her.
