Fate-related monsters

In a high-level campaign, we're all on a quest to each acquire 10 items of personal significance with which to create a "Weapon of Legacy" (AFAIK, nothing to do with book of the same name) on the so-called "Godforge." To give you some idea of what I mean, there's a neutral cleric who worships the cycle of life and death, and among his items he's looking to acquire are the books of exalted deeds and vlie darkness, phoenix blood, etc.

Anyways, I'm playing a Monk/Master of Fortunes with something like 9 Luck feats, and so a major theme for him is fate. Two of the items I want are a deck of many things and a rod of wonder. I'm also looking for some high-level monsters which are associated with fate, especially with changing it. Any suggestions? To give you some idea, the last two monsters we fought were a red and a blue great wyrm (not at the same time, of course!).

Chaos Dragon. I think it's in Draconomicon. Randomly rolls every time what kind of breath weapon it uses, and I think there was some randomness in its energy resistances

An inevitable, as it's pretty much the antithesis of what you're looking for and so acquiring a portion of it would be quite symbolic.

I actually thought about an inevitable. It's really not antithetical to my character... but it follows the lawful aspect of my alignment, and I also kind of like the fact that it represents the... inevitability of fate. My character doesn't change his fate, he's just well-fated to slip on a rock and accidentally avoid the swing of the axe. I'm going to try to find one (a marut) and see if I can bargain with it for it's helmet. :) Plus, the character I mentioned who worships the cycle of life and death wants to find a marut as well, since its purposes mesh well with his own agenda.

I don't know how well a noble djinni would work. The DM's banned wishes and miracles, so I don't even know if such a thing would exist.

Chaos Dragon's good. Thanks for that idea!

I don't have my Fiend Folio handy, but a Chronotiryn (CR 19 adamantine-feathered two-headed birdmen, self proclaimed "masters of time", IIRC) might be appropriate.

If you have access to... it's either the Creature Catalogues or the Tomes of Horrors... there are Time Elementals and another race (whose name escapes me) who are the sworn enemies of said elementals. They all exist on the Elemental Plane of Time, which is kind of a neat idea.

Well, even though wishes and miracles are banned, there is nothing saying that you can't journey to the elemental plane of air and bargain for a item that belongs to the djinni. It wouldn't have to be a significant thing and the djinni might be amused enough to gran the petitioner the request.

What about the elemental weirds (earth weird, fire weird, etc.) from the 3E Monster Manual II? They look like women composed of various elements, and they're kind of soothsayers, seeing the future and so forth, so they could easily be tied in with fate.
