So, I'm thinking of ways to beef up the favored class rules. Negating an XP penalty is nice and all, but most players I know multiclass in a way as to avoid the penalty in the first place. So I began thinking, what if a race with a favored class gets some sort of benefit for doing so? Then I started thinking, some players might take 1 level and be done with it, so I am sort of thinking along these lines.
If you possess more than 2 levels in your favored class than any other class, you recieve a benefit for each level you take in it (not retroactive). The benefit depends on the class:
Barbarian: Rage one extra time per day
Bard: One bonus spell known per spell level, +2 to bardic knowledge
Cleric: 1 bonus domain
Druid: +2 to druid level when determining animal companion (maybe)
Fighter: +2 hit points per level
Monk: +1 to monk levels when determining unarmed damage, bonus speed, and AC bonus
Paladin: +2 to Charisma for purposes of all paladin class features
Ranger: *still thinking*
Rogue: +2 skill points per level
Sorcerer: One bonus spell known per level, metamagic doesn't increase casting time
Wizard: 2 bonus spells in the spellbook per level, one bonus spell slot per spell level
Specialist Wizard: 2 bonus spells in the spellbook per level, only 1 phobitied school (diviner still sucks, sorry)
Any comments?
EDIT: If you use this, you should consider having races with the "any" favored class choose theirs at 1st level. Otherwise, it can get kind of wonky.
