Favored Enemy as a feat?

Is there any source that makes Favored Enemy a feat? Is there any reason it couldn't be made into a feat (that can be take multiple times and has the exact same effect as rangers getting it multiple times)?

There is an Extra Favored Enemy feat, but you have to already have the Favored Enemy class feature to take it.

Player's Guide to Faerun has it as a Regional Feat but you can only take it at 1st level and has a specific monster to which it applies to depending on what region you hail from.

Other d20 systems might have it as a feat.

Which book? I had to convince my DM to let me convert it from Masters of the Wild. Ruled that it gave a new enemy at +2, with potential to be raised later, but taking the feat doesn't let you increase any as if you had gained a new one from levels.
