favorite 3.5 adaptiation of ratmen?

I've seen several different types of ratmen accross many supplements. WotC has lycanthropes (which is not really what I'm looking for). White Wolf had the Slitheren although I think it's 3.0. I think Ptolus also has them but as a monster, not a possible PC race. What others are there? Which one is your favorite?

(Creature Collection Revised has 3.5 stats for them, as does Bard's Gate, not that they changed much.)

Scarred Lands Ratmen/Slitheren are my favorites of the three, though I would agree that their stats make them less suitable for PCs.

But for villains, they are great. The con bonus made them tough little buggers, and the different clans gave them a wonderfully varied flavor. The Warrens of the ratmen book and the additional clans in the other creature collections just adds to the mix.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to see if the revision in Creature Collection Revised is worth buying the entire book.

The Mus. Well-written, stunning art, and free. (Thank you, Mark Chance.)
Wow. Nice adaptation. I'd probably lower the dex bonus to +3 and increase the con bonus to +2. I'd also like to see something on albino rats (perhaps all seer mus are albino...).

I forgot about the Nezumi. I'll have to look through my books when I get home.

Easy: Goblins, just re-imagined as rat-like.
Or kobolds. I'm going to be doing Mike Mearls' Lost Vault of Tzashar Rho as a Ptolus game and hand-waving all the kobolds into ratlings. (Incidentally, I think you could use them as a player race quite easily, but they'd have to be VERY careful, since there's a bounty on ratling tails in the city.)

John,

Yes it's worth it. They made hags, Unhallowed, Fatlings, and Morgaunts templates finally.

The Ratmen stats do make them a little more powerful. Think maybe racial levels might be in order for them.

I've written a rat-themed product myself, but it's not a freebie (it's a whopping $1.40), so if the Mus meet your needs, stick with them. However ...

Odd-numbered ability bonuses are a crime against nature. (well, at the very least they're a bad idea, given D20's ability bonus mechanics)

Make it +4 or +2. Probably +2. The other racial abilities are pretty good. I wouldn't give them a Con bonus either, at least not if you want them as an ECL+0 race.

As written in the PDF, they're definitely ECL+1, probably +2. (+6 Dex!)

+2 ELC no doubt. Those +6 Dex and +4 Con bonuses are murder. This is again where I'd do a racial class, have them start out at +2 Dex, -2 Cha.
