Same for me, although it's not a "if I had to choose" situation, it's an easy choice for me.

Second favorite is a bit more difficult, but I'd probably go with A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

I'm a voracious reader; I'm always reading something.

I've read a lot of great books, but if pressed to name an all-time favorite, I'd probably have to say "Watership Down" by Richard Adams. The (animated) movie is amazing as well; I always get a big lump in my throat and a tear in my eye at the end.

The Lord of the Rings would probably be my pick. It was written as a single volume, but broken up into 3 novels by the publisher. All three books combined are shorter than many novels written today.

"King Solomon's Mines", the granddaddy of modern adventure novels. It has it all: a lost land, legendary treasure, war, hunting, wilderness survival.... I liked it so much, I ended tracking down all the other Quatermain novels and reading them....

The Bible. But then that's 66 books. And I wouldn't call it fantasy, so I suppose it's off topic, as well.

If you allow a series, The Drenai Saga by David Gemmell.

If only a single book, The High King, by Lloyd Alexander (but then I'd want that whole series, too). I pick this because I read it young, and it left a lasting impression. Speaking of which, it's about time to read it again...
