I second Freeport
Green Ronin's Freeport modules helped seal the deal for me as to why 3.x was they way to go. The campaign books they did had a flavor that hadn't been seen in any TSR/WotC books during 2nd edition, and helped prove why the OGL/D20 License was the best thing to happen to D&D in a long time. The materials are being updated for 3.5 now, and are highly recommended. Neat adventures, great setting, perfect dark-fantasy mood.
