Favorite Issue of Dragon

My favorite has to the issue from the 1980's (don't know the ish number) that had the Ocean Going adventure theme. Had the Ship Model inserted in it you could cut out and built.

I must have purchased a half dozen copies of that issue to build a fleet for the campaign I was running at the time (players were colonizing/clearing out a remote island).

Other than that any issue printed in the late 70's to late 80's will always hold a special place in my heart.

Issue #39

Issue #39 was a big one for me. It was my second issue and it had articles about two pretty radical concepts (at the time) - critical hits and anti-paladins. Those were the days...

Does anyone know which issue that is? I have the CD-Rom so would like to have a go at building one of those for my Pirates game!

Looks like it was Dragon 116.

116 5 3-D sailing ship insert. First photo cover.

Although I'm not sure the Dragon Cd includes the inserts. I know the Combat Wheel wasn't.

Just checked my Dragon Archive. The ship inserts are there. Last three pages of the issue, tacked on after the cover.

Thanks,
Rich

Dragon #75 and #131

Dragon #75, with the Ed Greenwood's 'The Nine Hells' Part 1 is my all time favorite issue of Dragon Magazine.

Dragon #131 with the 'Ecology of the Aboleth' and included adventure 'The Chasm Bridge' would be a close second.

195: My very first Dragon Magazine introduced me to the idea that this AD&D thing could be whatever I wanted it to be

196: And this issue introduced me to the fact that it's not all action adventure, and that a game of intruige can be fun

200: THIS is what Issue 300 could hav... should have been

204: The Science Fantasy theme still makes me feel happy - and the picture that started off the Theme, with the shifty WIzard selling the fighter a gun... :D

316: A return to old worlds. Much love was in this issue.

My current favorite is Issue 354 because it has Modrons (my favorite) updated to 3.5 and Core-Beliefs: Heironeous.

My second favorite is a tie between all the issues that the Demonomicon articles and Core-beliefs were in. These got me to buy the magazine regularly. Before that I would buy an issue here and there, but I was mainly into Dungeon.

My third favorite would be issue 261 (The Objet d'Art tables, Sesheyan home-world, Shadow magic (not quite as useful after 3.x, but it can be adapted) and the Wood elven village of Ironoak.
