Favorite local RPG Conventions...

So I am putting together some more of my convention schedule for 2005. I have down most of the "biggies" to attend.

I have three or four local conventions here in "sunny" (it has been cold and overcast out the last three days - typical for the Bay Area) California.

What about favorite local conventions in YOUR part of the world. Do you have a favorite local Con that happens yearly that you would recommend?

Looking for conventions that focus on RPG events with maybe some war games and board games mixed in, instead of war game dominated conventions with only two or three back tables of RPG events.

I love war gaming. Don't get me wrong. But these conventions are supposed to be for running demo's of my campaign settings and adventures and giving out free stuff.

Any ideas? My goal is to put together a very busy 2005 with at least one, maybe two Conventions a month once I get some books into print.

Conception in the UK was a riot this February. Saturday night we threw an all invited party and damn we had a giggle most of the night. I think we annoyed a few people though but didn't get much of a telling off...

oh you meant gaming... well it was my first con with these 3 mates of mine and they were pretty much into LG. I went to solely to play Living Spycraft and had a great time, most LS players are actually cool guys to hang with and I've seen them since the con. I playd 1 LG game but didn't really dig it, it was like playing generic D&D with a low level character (which indeed it is) sorry I have two D&D games going at the mo so I needed this like a yeti needs more hair. Shame really as I met one of the Onnwal triad and he is a cool guy. The venue of Conception is awesome, basically cabin style chalets to stay in and a big hall plus 2 bars to game in. The cost is damn good for the accomodation you get, plus entry to the hall is free so you just pay to game. I'm really looking forward to next years and will be going with the same guys but probably all sharing a chalet this time. Damn I hope we don't party too much ;)

Going to Gencon UK this month (can't wait) we haven't bothered with hall passes yet as I will be running Vampire: The Requiem back at the chalet. We'll no doubt venture into the hall at some point but its quite costly to do so and at the moment we don't know of any games we want to join in on in there. I think, and someone correct me if I am wrong that you have to pay to play ontop of the entry fee. The venue is at Butlins (a holiday camp) and games will be under one of the big tops. The accomodation cost is fair as we get access to the camps facilities waterslides, etc... oh god, I'm dreading it already actually!

Dragonmeet was held on my birthday in December last year, they've moved it to the following week this year. I went there on my todd hoping to find a game or two. I looked around and shopped at the impressive trade hall, they have interesting panel Q&A talks. There were lots of things happening downstairs but it felt cramped and very cliquey. C3P0 was there but was being ignored :( they seemed to have plonked him at the front and maybe a little out of the way of things. I got there fairly early and didn't see much activity around Anthony Daniels :( I'm not sure if I will be going to DM this year.
