We have listed our 4 or 5 favorite and unfavorite products on these boards several times. i have thought of an interesting variant that might be usueful as wee to someone perusing these boards. What are your 5 favorite PDF products that you purchased? And if you are feeling like typing it out, why?

For me the answer is (In no particular order):

1. A Magical Medieval Society

2. Elements of Magic

3. Maidenheim

4. Names ( Celtic and English )

I haven't bought too many, but I can say I am thoroughly pleased with:

The Kids Colouring Book o' d20 Critters. It is a great book! I can color it with my three year old, encourage him to draw his own monsters and what is more cool than DMing a game and whn the party says, "What does this thing look like?" and you whip out a colored kids drawing of a fully d20 statted critter? Awesome fun on so many levels. Besides, is there a better place to dream up a monster than inside of the mind of a child?

There are some others but I really want this to stand out, as it is in itself the most standout d20 .pdf on the market in my opinion. Plus the authors are pretty darn adorable, Monte Cook doesn't have anything on them in that edpartment. ;)

My favorite PDFs are all ESDs of classic products. :)

The 1e DMG, the Rules Cyclopedia, Tomb of Horrors, etc.

If your limiting your query to 'new' PDF products, well...

I like Monte's stuff. BoEM I and II, Hallowed Might, and Banewarrens. (all are/will be in print as well). I like Monte's varient classes.

I really want Ambient's Archer classbook. That will fill a niche quite nicely.

  1. Similar list for me, save I put in Hallowed Might at 1 and Enigma of the Arcanexus at 5th.

Until now, I've been a little leary of purchasing PDFs, but this past weekend I went to RPGNow and decided to drop any unfounded prejudices I might have had and give PDF products a try.* I picked up The Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks (Cryptosnark Games) and The Book of Curses (Heyoka Studios), and so far, I've really liked what I've read of both, so I'm happy to add them to this list.

Good topic, BTW. I'm definitely interested in buying more PDF products now, and seeing what other people really like and have gotten good use out of will help me decide what I want to get next :)

Welcome to the 21st century, Joe ;)

*Actually, I did purchase the excellent Swords Into Plowshares for charity last summer from RPGNow, so this was not exactly my first PDF purchase.

Edit: I own print versions of some of the top PDFs mentioned so far (can you say Monte?).

Book of Eldritch Might I & II (still waiting for 3 in print before I buy it, and Hallowed Might didn't impress me as much)

Mindscapes (best alternate rules ever)

Four Color to Fantasy- I don't like giving out magic items, so this thing really helped me

NPC Essentials
