favorite place to play

Don't really have a fav spot. My friend has a nice house but his table's too small, and both his dining area and my other pal's living room are small when you crowd in 6 or 7 people around a table.

We play at my friend's house in his room/basement. It's pretty nice, because the room is connected to his wargaming room where we can go to wargame or if we need to have private conferences between two people.

I'd say my basement. It is just about the perfect gaming environment for our group.

I've got plenty of comfortable seating, bookshelves to hold our books and miniatures, extra tables for people to put their character sheets or book on and the perfect table for gaming. I must thank one of the guys in our group for that one.

He bought this really nice, extra large coffee table and we used to game on it at his house. It is almost exactly the size of our big 36"x48" battlemats. But then he got married and his wife redecorated their place and I "helped him out" by buying the table from him (for cheap ;) ). Now he gets to visit it at least once a week.

Sadly, as I am just slightly out of public transportation range of Boston, nobody ever comes to my house to game. I usually game in various classrooms or conference rooms in colleges around Boston. Despite the horrendously long commute into the city, I find the lack of distraction - no TV, for example, refreshing.

If only there were access to beer. :p

We play in my kitchen every Friday night. Convienent for me and my wife. Don't need to get a babysitter to play; don't need to drive home. Sometimes its a little distracting with the kids coming in and stealing some popcorn or munchkins, but it all works out pretty good.

Wow, you've taught your kids to steal munchkins? That's awesome. We could have used them a few years back to get rid of some of the munchkins in our group.:p

I have to agree though that I like playing in our house best, too. We bought a table with a granite top for our dining room with gaming in mind - no scratches from dice rolling.

My second favorite place to play at was a comic store at which a fellow gamer and I worked. The owner let us play after hours, and there was a great pizza place across the street. I have to admit that having a "neutral" place to play was very good, even if it wasn't always the most comfortable, and it was about the same driving distance for everyone, with a few exceptions.

Yep, my basement rec room is where we exclusively play. All my books are nearby, I have tall stools set around the (covered) pool table so there's lots of space for the battlemats, and the stereo is down there just a remote-click away.

Back in the high school days - a friend's basement.

We played on a large round table and the carpeting was that extra long shag type. Oh the memories.

In my room. I play with a small group of high school or just out of high school students, and we all live with our parents (at least until I move out in August ;) ) none of us has a basement, and generaly its hard to get use of a dining room or any other place, so we use my room. It just large enough to fit a long folding table that we use for gaming, and it gives easy access to books, computers, etc. The only problem is that its not really neutral ground. Luckily all my players are very close friends of mine, so having a neutral meeting place is not a problem.
