favorite prestige classes?

From OA:
Blade dancer
Singh rager (toned down, it's b0rken as it is)
Shiba protector
Battle maiden

T&B:
Spellsword
Mage of the arcane order (also toned down)

MotW:
Deepwood sniper

Magic of Rokugan:
Phantom hunter
Medium
Master smith

Shaman's Handbook (Green Ronin):
Healer
Spirit hunter

And, of course, all the PrCs on my D&D page.

One more vote for the Shifter. Of course, it's because I loved the Mavin Manyshaped/True Game/Jinian Footseer series of novels by Sheri S Tepper.

Rage Mage from one of the Dragon mags is also cool, if you want to play a Spellsword with attitude ("You not make Bror angry! You not like Bror when Bror angry!").

I also like the Soulknife from the Psionics Handbook. Play a gnome or halfling Soulknife and break out the odd grammar ("Judge me by my size, do you?")!

Shifter, geomancer, oozemaster, warmaster, shadowdancer, dwarven defender, loremaster.

[EDIT] I don't remember the mental control guy from Tome and blood right now, but add him and candle caster to my list.

Archmage from FRCS - A fine prestige class in many ways. A bit on the strong side, though.

Eldritch Warrior from BOEM II - This class just somehow seems 'right' to me. Best from Monte, IMHO.

Doomdreamer from Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. Not for PCs, but very much fun for DM use. The spell DC - Madness mechanism is pure evil!

Demonologist, from Mongoose's Demonology: The Dark Road... And for that matter, the other two concepts... Finaly a class for munchkins... who don't think far in advance :D I had a blast when someone took this in my campagin, a munchkin-ish player... in two levels he was dead, and I'm surprised he made it that long the way he played! Heh, but I enjoy playing the class myself... if your smart, you can really make it work.

Iajutsu Master from OA: This is what a PC should be, IMO... A person who focuses on one thing very closely. And it works well.

I didn't choose Blade Dancer, because, while I like it, I personaly think the entry requirements are too steep... It's very difficult to qualify for in time to still take all 10 levels (Excluding epic rules) of it. I lessened the preqs just a touch when I've used it before, but...

Here are some that I would like to try with various characters at some point and time when I get the chance.

Archmage
Shadow Adept
Spellsword
Shifter

thats about it, I love looking at prestige classes, but ultimately wouldn't take most of them. As a general rule of thumb I am a single class kind of fellow.

Oh and and really, really like the picture that companies the Hathran in the FRCS, she has a bearing and attitude not commonly found amoungst the women of fantasy art.

Interesting. Here's a few, keeping in mind I mostly DM (i.e., these would primarily be NPCs)

S&F: Weapon Master (kensei in 3e!), Ghostwalker.

T&B: Acolyte of the Skin, Pale Master, True Necromancer

OA: Bladedancer

Jade & Steel: Dim Mak Practitioner, Iron Hand Disciple

S&S: You're kidding, right?

Undead: The Dying, Wasteland Druid

Bladesinger
Weaponmaster
Spellsword
Bladedancer
Ragemage
Eldritch Master

BTW, was anyone else really disappoited with the Prestige Classes in the Epic Level Handbook? I was hoping for some really cool stuff, but I got the epic level body guard instead :)

There's a "Wizard Slayer" type PrC in Green Ronin's "Arcana: Societies of Magic" book that was just what I was looking for as a DM. I was just about to design a PrC of elven wizard slayers when I came across this class, and Green Ronin had already done the work for me. The background/writeup of the class is really cool, too. Gave me a lot of ideas for fleshing out the society I'd already invented for my world.

Coincidentally, the DM for the game that I play in just threw one of these guys against our group a few sessions ago. Made for a great villain.
