Charles Stross created several famous creatures from the Fiend Folio.
His Laundry series is a fun, clever read. Very good. Based on the Cthulhu Mythos but set in the modern age and with a hint of Hitchhikers and Pratchett. I would start with book one in the series and read them in order...they will build and make more sense that way
