And yes, Los Lobos is the same group that did songs for the soundtracks of Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

Not to mention standing in for Richie Valens on the "La Bamba" soundtrack. Gads, that's almost 20 years ago, now...

Another Queen fan here. My all time favorite song, without a doubt, is Bohemian Rhapsody. I could listen to it all the time (and I do, I guess) and it is still just as powerful as the first time I heard it. Freddie Mercury is a musical god.

Starman

My other funeral song would also be Wagner's Twilight Of The Gods: Siegfried's Funeral March . A a lone piper. Yeah, I want three, but one cannot sum me up. :)

Rush's "The Spirit of Radio" is my favorite song. Made me want to learn to play guitar.

No pick for my death dirge, as I'll be dead, and won't care what they play.

"Little Martha," a little instrumental piece by the Allman Brothers. Maybe not the best song I know, but it always makes me feel happier when I hear it.

I don't generally think about a "lay me in the grave song," you morbid, morbid people :p , but I think I want "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes, ala Star Trek II.
I've always wanted that too (although I don't remember that from Star Trek II...) Lately, though, I'm thinking I want to spice it up and just have them play "Dead Man's Party" by Oingo Boingo.

Like a lot of folks, I don't have a favorite song. There are just too many variables.

But "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds is up there. My wife and I danced to that song at our wedding. I think of her and my throat gets tight every time I hear it. And, yes, I am a sap.

I cannot even listen to Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt," it's so powerful.

Other songs that are up there:
"And it stoned me" by Van Morrison
"Fall on Me" by REM
"Slower" by Mineral

For a good book about favorite songs, check out Nick Hornby's (High Fidelity, About a Boy) Songbook. He talks about lost of songs he likes and the power of (popular) music. The hardcover even comes with a CD.
