I run a D&D/Arcana Evolved mixed game and was thinking of think of picking up Fiery Dragon Production's Battlebox.

Can anyone tell me what exactly is the Battlebox and what is the difference between the regular and AE versions?

Thanks.

It's a great product. I use it in over half my sessions. It has lil cards that spell out, step by step, how to perform the various combat maneuvers. It's wonderful! Saves a lot of time when that stuff comes up.

It also comes with a small battlemat, several spell templates and a wee lil d20.

As to the differences between editions, that I can't speak to. But I give the Battlebox three thumbs up.

I own it too, and use the cards at least every session. I also bring them to other games and they've proven to be a big help.

In addition to the cards, you have several cut outs of various spell effect, (fireballs, rays, cones) all at different common degrees. Also spiritual weapons and lingering spell effect cards. YOu have a large map of tiles that looks like a dungeon. There's a small book and card to help track pursuits over short and long distances too.

Well, the Jester said what both boxes come with. The most useful thing in the standard edition are those cards with combat manoeuvres (Bull Rush, etc.), but these are only in the standard edition.

The AE edition features cards for special conditions (blinded, sickened, etc.), rune tokens, counters for spell effects, characters and summoned energy creatures, two maps of the Diamond Throne region and a CD. The CD contains NPC progression tables for all classes and a few other files. It was empty when I bought it, but I got a download link for the files, and now I have them on this nicely printed CD together with quite a few other files and pdf's, e.g. Arcana Evolved itself :D. But that's my very own edition ;).
