This guy is made for Masque of the Red Death d20, but other than one feat given in the MotRD book, he's perfectly suitable for any DnD setting.

"At last," murmured Hawley. "We have reached the summit, you and I!"

A moment later, Hawley's boasting was cut short as a fog descended over the mountain. As we stood there blinking, the haunting strains of mournful bagpipes were to be heard. "Hawley," I said, "I thought there was no settlement on this mountain."

"There is not," said he, and peered into the fog.

A moment later, I was overtaken by a fit of melancholy such as I have never experienced. A moment later, a huge, lumbering man--a full 10 feet tall, if he was an inch!--clad all in grey lurched forward out of the fog.

Description
Meaning 'big grey man' in Scots Gaelic, the fear liath mor is a rare creature that haunts mountains and alpine forests throughout the world. It is also called the Brenin Llwyd (grey king) in Welsh or Brockengespenst (Brocken spectre) in German.

Fear liath mor are enormous grey-colored men. They may appear as grey-colored silhouettes, giants covered with greyish fur, or old men clad all in grey clothing. Often, tales of witch-burnings and all manner of deviltry are told to explain their appearance--while it is true that many of the haunts of these figures have their share of tragedy, but in truth the fear liath mor are a race of vampiric fey drawn towards these regions.

Combat
Although physically formidable, the average fear liath mor does not desire charging into combat. Rather, it will use its ghost sound ability to create the sounds of weeping, screams, music, or laughter to disorient its foe, and if that does not ward it off approaches to the distance required for its frightful presence ability to take effect.

Frightful Presence (Ex): A fear liath mor's mere presence is enough to trigger this ability. Will save DC 12.

Psychic Feed (Ex): A fear liath mor derives nourishment from the very soul of terrified victims. If it succeeds at a ranged touch attack against a victim who has succumbed to its frightful presence ability, it the fear liath mor may drain 1d4 Wisdom.

Spell-like Abilities: 3/day--ghost sound, obscuring mist. 1/day--crushing despair, solid fog. These take effect as the spells cast by a 4th-level adept. It may cast this as a standard action.

Brockengespenst
The Brocken spectre is not an undead creature, as its name suggests. It is identical to the fear liath mor in statistics, but is also incorporeal.
