Feat for a 3rd-level duskblade?

In support of Battle Caster, it stacks with the increased armor capabilities of the duskblade. At 4th level, a duskblade with BC can now wear heavy armor without incurring any penalty to casting. This can be duplicated eventually without the feat by investing in mythril armor, but BC is realistically available much earlier and much cheaper.

As for metamagic feats, if you want one that might be immediately useful, you could look at the sudden feats from CArc, as they don't raise the effective spell level. Sudden Extend is nice if you use a lot of buffing spells.

Cleave. Arcane Strike isn't that great for Duskblades. Why waste a spell for a marginal bonus if you can use the full spell WITH the hit?

...because you want to do both?

That's what I was thinking. A duskblade can load up on arcane energy going into melee attacks; that's his thing. At high enough level you can combine a smiting spell, a channeled spell, an arcane strike, and a spell like blade of blood all into one melee attack.

Edit: Also, because arcane channeling only applies to touch spells. Arcane Strike can be used with any spell.

Yeah, I can see that being interpreted either way with respect to affecting the same target more than once. Has there been any clarification in errata or faqs?

Can't find anything official, but that's how my DM has interpreted it, so that's all that really matters at this point.

Though if the designers wanted it to apply on every successful attack, they probably would have said that, rather than referring to targets.

I just finished building a 5th level Duskblade for a one shot game this weekend.

I was able to use flaws so I started with 4 feats at first and 1 at 3rd, this is what I have done.
1st - Exotic WP - Bastard Sword
H - Weapon Focus - BS
Flaw - Power Attack
Flaw - Battle Caster

3rd - Somatic Weaponry (Complete Mage)

Out of the spells I have on my list only 2 have material components, which means I can cast the rest of my spells with Full Plate, Heavy Shield & weapon in hand with no spell failure.

Not sure how well its going to work, but I think it will be fun.
