Feat to allow adjacent use of Reach weapons

Greybar

No Trouble at All
something along the lines of:

Close-In Fighting
Prerequisite: Weapon Focus with reach weapon, BAB 3+
Benefits:
The character gains the ability to use a reach weapon against an adjacent target. Each time this feat is taken in applies to one weapon only with which the character already has the Weapon Focus feat.
Normal:
Reach weapons cannot normally be used to attack adjacent targets.

thoughts, criticism?

I think the prerequisites are too high for the benefit. A reach weapon that can strike adjacent targets is normaly an exotic weapon, so the ability to use a martial weapon in a fashion similar to an exotic one should not cost more than using an exotic weapon.

I would do it something like this:

Close-In Fighting [Fighter]
Chose a reach weapon with which you are already proficient. You have learned to use that weapon in close combat.
Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +1.
Benefit:You can use the selected reach weapon to strike adjacent foes.
Special: You can take this feat multiple times. Each time, select a different reach weapon.

Another solution...

Gee, I just let anyone proficient with the staff use the other end of a polearm as that, once the enemy gets past the head...

When using a monk that weilds a reach weapon.....

if the enemy gets too close, I just start kicking them.

When using a rogue that weilds a reach weapon.....

if the enemy gets too close, I just start kicking them with blade boots.
