Feat to combine caster levels?

Is there a feat- pretty sure there's no WotC one- that will allow you to combine spellcasting caster levels for the purpose of overcoming spell resistance? Or even further, for the purpose of determining level-dependent effects of spells? It seems one of the most common complaints about multiclassing spellcasters is that you get behind on beating SR & such. Would such a feat be too powerful?

Don't necessarily want to houserule one, but am curious if it's out there and if so what the mechanics are.

Such a feat woudl be ludicrously broken, no offense. Look at how badly people are screeching about the Mystic Theurge ... !

People are screeching about the Theurge due to the insane number of spells you'd get. I understand such a feat would be powerful- it'd need some serious prereq's. But since multiclassed spellcasters are considered a poor choice due to the whole seperate caster level thing, I wondered if any publication had done anything to address it outside of a prestige class.

Does a theurge get so much more spells than a singleclass dude?

Sure, he get's two classes, but the other guy has prolly a better INT or WIS plus three levels (e.g. at least one spell level higher spells).

I would guess that a theurge of any level has probably 1.5 times as many spells as a singleclass spellcaster.

Adding up caster levels for the purpose of figuring SR, dispel checks, and spell effects sounds fine to me. As a multiclassed spellcaster you're already missing out on the top-level spells compared to the single-classed guys. In fact, I suggested something very similar about a year ago on rgfd.

You could go further and allow non-spellcaster levels to contribute as well, which would help with the fighter/mage problem.

I can see allowing an Epic feat with some prerequisites (casting level say at least 10th in each class), which allows you to stack spellcasting class levels for the purposes of penetrating SR as not being rorty.

However, the feat should not allow you to stack caster levels, as Mystic Theurge allows you to get more than 1 caster level/class level.

Let us assume, for the purposes of this thread, that the Myst*c Th*urge is really just a bad dream.
