What is before you resembles a winged human child clutching a very large feather and bearing a malicious grin.

Unaligned to the baatezu or the tanar’ri, feather devils exist to torment mortals with laughter. They do so by tickling with a magical feather.

Tickle (Su): If a feather devil successfully makes a melee touch attack with his feather, the opponent must make a will save (DC 14) or be stricken with a Hideous Laughter spell as cast by a sorcerer of the feather devil’s hit dice. (The save DC formula is ½ the Feather Devil’s HD + the Feather devil’s dexterity modifier). The feather devil may continue to tickle the opponent in the following rounds, which then calls for another will save. If the opponent fails the second save he is considered helpless, in which case the feather devil will typically flip his feather around and gorily coup de grace the opponent.
Darkvision: This creature can see in complete darkness, up to 60.


Inspired by Bartmanhomer's thread over in general. I like it, but im shaky on my CR estimation.

Interesting. I like the idea.

However, what is it's caster level? Is it equal to HD or just set at 3 or w/e? The reason is for how long the Tasha's effect lasts.

Also, I think you should give the pointy end of the quill damage equal to a dagger or something to help calculate the CDG. Also, if there are numerous of them on one person, some might try to damage while one or two use their ability.

Which brings up the thought: If two different feather devils tickle one person and the person fails, does he become helpless or does the second feather have no effect? If two attackers has no more effect than one, the damage will be useful cause the feather devils will attempt to poke their target.

Hurts and giggles, got to be an annoying combo. ;)

the caster level would be equal to the Feather Devil's hit dice - so that way an enterprising dm could add HD or class levels to one for added deadliness.

Hm - i meant to stat it as a halfspear, but a dagger could work - I'll rewrite the block in my next post.

I Could see feather devils working in tandem.

Just thought of this, although you can probably come up with a better name:

Group Therapy (Su): For each additional feather devil beyond the first, the DC to avoid being Tickled increases by +1.
