Keep in mind that the prerequisite for Sudden Maximize is another Metamagic Feat, so you're actually spending TWO feats, one of which you can't even use yet, and the other of which is pointless.

Bad feat later... e.g. very bad for feat starved classes.

If your campaign is only 1-10, there's no point in decrying how bad a feat it is at 20.

Duskblades don't normally get their 2nd level spells until what, level 5? Even after you pass that point, it's still an extra slot, an extra spell known and a +2 to Spellcraft, so it's like two poorly-chosen feats (which, powerwise, might each be only be half a normal feat) plus half a normal feat.

Also, you can pick any 2nd-level arcane spell, including non-duskblade spells. It's a great way to learn, say, a healing spell (from the Bard list.)

Battlecaster Offense is pretty nice if you don't mind giving up Power Attack to take Combat Casting.
