Two players in my group bring crochet projects to work on during sessions. I'm one of them :p
Too bad you're not playing the Red Hand of Doom game I'm in.

I could use a couple of spare sweaters. And a tent.

:D My craft: crochet skill would be a bit challenged attempting to make a waterproof tent. But bring me some ettercap silk and an elven spinning wheel to make the yarn and I'll get right on that.

Good luck with Red Hand of Doom. We're still trying to save the world from being overthrown by the demonic conspiracy and restore the bard's lost duchy. I'm burned out on the campaign, the characters, and the plot. My husband is GM, and generally he's quite good at it. But he fell prey to one of the common mistakes of GM's everywhere; he made one of the characters central to the plotline while casting the rest of us in accessory roles. Not at first - but that's how it's been for oh, the past couple years.

I am SO ready to start a new game. I'll GM it. Provided the other players are willing, I want it to be 4E, even if I have to convert over the stuff I want to run. 4E looks like it will be fun to GM. I'd also like to show the bard's player that combat can be an enjoyable part of the game as well as the roleplaying aspects. So I really really hope 4E delivers on that.

Melee classes with distinctly different fighting styles and mechanics that match.

The Fighter looks really fun to play. And he gets benefits and cool abilities for using a shield. That's awesome.
