Feb '09: What are you reading?

I'm reading [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Lankhmar-Book-1-Swords-Deviltry/dp/1595820795/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233502643&sr=8-1"]Lankhmar Book 1: Swords and Deviltry[/ame]. As is usual with fantasy, I'm struggling to get into the right frame of mind. I do much better at "jumping right in" when it's sci fi.

I'm listening to Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Been a long, long time since I read it, and as usual the audiobook experience is totally different. Starts out slow but got good pretty quickly.

I gave up on the audiobook of Son of a Witch. I just didn't feel like I cared about any of the characters with Elphaba gone. And having the author as narrator this time around was a step down in the quality of the performance (he's a little too in love with his words).

I could be reading book 2 of the Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson (am I looking forward!). I could be reading Dune. Maybe even re-read Neuromancer.

However, a new years resolution got in the way. So now I'm doing proofs instead. In a few months time I will be done with my problemset though, and then I can read fiction again!

In the end, it will be worth it, but I sure miss my fiction.

I´ve read 108 pages of "Confessor" the last book in "The Sword of Truth" saga. Good stuff so far. It´s been a good ride, thank you Mr. Goodkind for many memorable moments (and some not so memorable).

Just finished "Twenty Years After" by Dumas. Far too long, and took too long to get going, but once the four musketeers finally managed to get together, it improves a great deal. Still, I can't recommend it.

Now reading "Diamonds Are Forever". Seems good. I can't comment on how it compares with the movie, as I somehow haven't managed to see most of the Moore Bond films.

Next up will be "The Orc King" by Salvatore.

I could be reading any of a hundred things, but right now I'm reading the Order of the Stick compilations. That will be done soon, and I'll likely move on to... well, I'm not quite sure. I'm directing a production of LION IN WINTER this December, and I should re-read it a few times. I'll also get back to Pennington's MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - USER'S GUIDE, but I already mentioned that last month.

So many books, so many books... maybe I should spend less time on Facebook and more with my face in a book. :)
