[Feb] What did you watch on DVD/VHS/theaters this month

So what did you watch this month?

My take:
DVDs:
Simpsons Season 2 - Still halfway there. Satire is much sharper than the first season and more enjoyable.

Faraway So Close - Amazing film about Angels in Berlin. I didn't like the cameos and some parts of the film are a bit of a muddle, but the message of the film is irresistable. Must track down Wings of Desier, the prequel.

Theaters:
Daredevil - A decent comic adaptation and I've posted my views about this movie already.

Adaptation - Fun movie. Some have found the ending very 'Hollywood' but that's the whole point of it. Won't say more as it'd be a spoiler. :D

Let's see; saw Daredevil, hope to see Gods and Generals.

Watched The Royal Tenenbaums and Atanarjuat (The Fast Runner). Oh, and X-men 1.5.

Daredevil, The Recruit, Gangs of NY, and Final Destination 2.

I enjoyed the last the most.

On dvd I saw Vampire Hunter D (the second one, I guess- still stupid.).

The only thing I've seen in theaters for the past month or so is Daredevil - which I liked.

I picked up the Angel Season 1 DVD set, and am 1 disc into it. Good so far, but it hasn't has the immediate hook for me that Buffy did.

I also just bought The Wild Bunch. But I haven't watched it yet.

In theatres I finally saw Star Trek: Nemesis (which premiered here in the first week of January).

On the computer (downloads) I saw the first season of Invader Zim (it's brilliant! OF DOOOOOM!!) and the second season of Family Guy (well, half of it).

I've been really broke since Christmas so there's been very little DVD/VHS/Cinema for me or anything else that costs any money.

Having just recently purchased a DVD player, I've been buying movies I've repeatedly watched and enjoyed over the years (and plan to watch again many, many times).

I recently watched Swingers and The Usual Suspects (I've seen both nearly a dozen times, at least, I'm sure). Yesterday I received The Big Kahuna, Clerks, and Chasing Amy in the mail. Fight Club, Reservoir Dogs, and The Big Lebowski should be showing up in my mailbox at any moment.

This weekend I rented Undisputed (it was alright, but nothing special, and I don't see myself ever watching it again), Igby Goes Down (excellent movie), and Donnie Darko (watching it tonight).

I saw Dark Blue in theaters this Sunday, and while it didn't bring anything particularly new and exciting to the table, it was still solid. I enjoyed it and definitely feel I got my money's worth.

  • Saw Daredevil - not as good as X-Men IMO, but light-years beyond the bat-drek WB was putting out in the early '90's.
  • Managed to finish the Babylon 5 Season 1 DVD in between a constant rotation of The Jungle Book, Walt Disney's Robin Hood, and Lady and the Tramp (kids - gotta love 'em ;)). I just picked up Deep Space Nine Season 1 - hopefully, by the time I finish that Season 2 will will be out...

Movies: Finally got around to seeing The Two Towers (I'm a cheapskate; I waited for it to hit the Army post so I could see it for $3.00). Also, I saw Daredevil just last week (as a long-time comic fan, I felt it was worth paying the extra $2.00 for a matinee showing, rather than wait the couple extra months for it to hit the post). :)

DVDs: I just watched The Scorpion King with the missus on Sunday. That was our third time seeing it, as I took her to see it twice at the theater. (She's a fan of "The Rock.") Plus, I got the "Emma Peel" episodes of The Avengers on DVD for Christmas, so whenever we feel like some TV and there's nothing much on, we just pop in the next one and watch John Steed and Mrs. Peel in action.
