Felon v. ForceUser: The Warlock, more boring than the Fighter?

I suppose you expect Felon to answer with a "Yes" now, and then you will follow up with a "No" and, after that, Felon will counter that with a "Yes", and then...

Interesting thread :).

:) Actually, I said my piece in the Healer thread...I suppose I could repost it here. Mostly I just started this thread so Felon could delve deeper into his position--otherwise known as "digging a hole." :p

Sounds like some kind of Zen thing.

"Skill Focus (language) more useless than Weapon Specialization (net)?"

A task for philosphers greater than I.

No. Rebuttal? :p

That's my basic impression as well.

Force, if you seriously want to start a thread about the warlock, then I'd be happy to participate. First off, however, you need to make the thread accessable to others by actually presenting a topic. And the "Felon vs ForceUser" header is a little self-indulgent.

However, if the thread exists for purely facetious purposes, then....Yeah, of course it is! Any knucklehead can see that! :p

Aw, come on man, don't overanalyze. There's some humor here, but seriously, I'm just following up your comment in the healer thread. Over there, you said you'd post more in depth about the warlock, but that was not the appropriate place.

So here is the appropriate place. Go nuts. What point did you refrain from making?

The fighter has a lot more supplements going for it (tons of feats (many with large numbers of prerequisites) accessable to the fighter, especially with Complete Warrior and PHB II).

If the Warlock gets lots more invocations in the Compete Mage book, then it might catch up.

(Oddly enough, I enjoy playing straight-out Warlocks and straight-out Fighters, but since this battle is about their boringness relative to each other, I felt I could contribute).

If you compare one specific warlock character to one specific fighter character, the fighter will almost always be more "boring" because he lacks nifty spell like abilities and supernatural abilities, etc.

However the one thing going in a fighters favor is when you compare the classes as wholes. If someone says "hey guys, I'm going to play a warlock" you have a pretty good idea as to what he'll be doing. Blast, blast, blast, blast, with a few other tricks. But as feats keep coming out which make different styles of fighter viable, if someone says "hey guys, I'm going to play a fighter", they could be a 2H power attacker, a sword and board AC monkey dwarven tank, an archer, a chain tripper, a grappler (reaping mauler is fun to say), a TWF turned tempest, etc.

Individually, the warlock wins one on one, but as a whole the fighter has a wider variety of possibilities.
