Festival of Halina (Orsal Judging)

Oirhandir glanced at the position of the sun, mindful of his charge to return Fang by mid-afternoon.

OOC:[sblock]Do we have time to goof around, or do we need to head back to the temple?[/sblock]
The sun is not quite at mid day yet, so you feel you have a bit of time left to unwind.

Finally! His armor wouldn't be ready for a day or two yet, the next ceremonial obligation wasn't due for a few hours, and Fang had his bauble for his lady friend. For the first time in days, Oirhandir didn't have a care or obligation in the world, even if only for a few hours. And he was at a festival! He welcomed the opportunity to see the sights and hear the sounds of the massive encampment.

"Fang, what do you say we have a look around and see what there is to see and do?"
, he asked in Orcish as he tugged at the elbow of his brawny friend.
"Let's have some fun!"
, he added.

OOC:[sblock]Oirhandir's "plan" is to more or less systematically explore the festival, as he doesn't want to miss a thing. He'll probably start somewhere around Morando's booth and explore all of the north field that he hasn't seen so far. Time permitting, he'll drag Fang into the Freefolk area and explore that, paying Rinaldo a visit if he can be found. And, if by some miracle it still isn't mid-afternoon, he'll check out the south field and possibly buy a Jellywine Roll at Falander's wagon. He'll keep an eye on the time so Fang doesn't miss his "date", and whatever he doesn't see today, he'll explore the next day (provided he can do so without missing any of the official festivities).[/sblock]

Finishing your explorations of the north field, you find all sorts different booths selling nearly anything imaginable. Jewelry, weapons, armor, equipment, fine instruments, riding gear, food from around the world, tatoos, religious items, and more. You find booths running games of skill and/or chance that offer winnings of little trinkets, stuffed toys, or even a few coins.

While it won't take you the rest of the afternoon to explore the north field, if there is something you wish to do there besides explore it may. Let me know if anything catches either yours or Fang's fancy.

Anyone else up to any more mischief before the evening feast? You've all got some time.

I think Sunny will check out the festival, then sit down and look at his scrolls/attempt to understand how they work, using read magic and doing wizardly things.

When bored of this, he'll roam about looking for his "girlfriend".

You easily sort through them and read them with casting Read Magic. If you wish to scribe them in your book, that's 1 day per spell, and 100 gp per spell level per spell (I think that's a dumb cost rule btw, but that's the way it works). Fortunatly, you can take a 10 on your spellcraft roll and hit the DC 16 required to scribe and understand the spells, so you don't need to roll.

After figuring out all the scrolls, Sunny begins to wander the festival again. Not spying Daphnie the north fields, he looks around in the east fields, thinking perhaps she is doing something with the townsfolk. However, that does not prove to be fruitfull either. The townsfolk have setup several booths, many with food, but a few with items for sale, many of which have some sort of assosiation to the festival*. There is a priest who is telling stories to the people of Halina's glory and accomplishments. Many of the townsfolk are finishing setting up tables under the large pavilion in preperation for the feast tonight.

Plenty of interest, but no Daphnie. So, you head over towards the western fields. Sure enough, you spot Daphnie, Troi, and Rinaldo having a conversation.

*OOC: I'm evisioning an item that has this carved in it "I went to the Festival of Halina(TM) and all I got was this lousy suit of Full Plate." ;)

There were more things for sale than Oirhandir could buy in one lifetime, well, if it were one of the short lives of men, that is. Every time he saw something that interested him, a smile crossed his face and he suppressed a chuckle. Just the pickings from Rupert's pack train barely fit in a magical backpack; even if he had the coin to indulge his whims the elf knew he'd need a dozen more magical containers to drag all the spoils around!

After a time, he was sure both he and Fang had strolled past every booth, wagon, and tent in the north field, either this day or the day before. Glancing at the sun, he determined that they had yet a little more time before Fang was due back at the temple, so Oirhandir suggested that they try the west field next. The freefolk were certainly a strange and wonderful people, and the elf imagined that he might even travel with them for a while some time...maybe next year. He wondered if he would find Rinaldo at his tent.

OOC:[sblock]Time and Fang permitting, we'll hit the west field. Oirhandir is just out on a lark, and doesn't mind stopping for every little thing that interests Fang. If they get to Rinaldo's tent by mid-afternoon, Oirhandir will make inquiries. If not, back to Hellen they go![/sblock]
