I imagine the Dawnforge Essential Collection won't be selling very well from the sale. I can buy each of the 3 books for $5 each, or the set for $40.00

Portals and Planes (authored by Mike Mearls) is a very good read. Both of the Traps and Treachery books are good, though the first is slightly better, IMO. Monster's Handbook is good but outdated. Seafarer's Handbook -- well, there are better nautical supplements now, though not for $5.

I don't know anything about Dragonstar or Dawnforge, so I really can't comment there. The one Blue Planet book I picked up, Unnatural Selection I think it was called, was very good at describing the ecology of an Earth-like planet while remaining both plausible and alien.

Portals and Planes is the basis for my current campaign. Good stuff. (Man my players hate the chaos legionaire template...)

Wildscape is great primarily for the fact that it expands ranger combat styles, and includes an option to trade spellcasting for further enhancement to their styles. Totally brings the ranger up to snuff and makes it the flexible core class it should be.

Out of curiosity, anyone know anything about Fireborn?

Fireborn is a moder RPG set in London England. The idea is the PCs are former (reincarnated basically) Dragons rediscovering their great power. THe game has a second setting of the earth ages ago during a mthical time when Dragons and other magical creautres were around. The character can play their characters as they existed then as a fully mighty and powerful dragon.

THe mechancis are interesting as each character has stats of the four elements and that is determined in dice pools that can be shared with each other. I didn't play a long time so I'm a bit rusty on the mechanics side. But I really like the idea and the setting for the game. For 10 bucks (5 for each of the two main books) I think it is well worth that cost.
